House Sparrow

“Passer Domesticus”

This small bird lives up to 3 years in the wild and is a noisy cheerful little bird. Quite happy to eat seeds and scraps.

There are estimated to be around 5,300,000 pairs breeding in the uk.

They are 15 to 17cm in length

They have a wingspan of 19 to 25cm

They weigh in at between 27 to 30g

House sparrows have lived around humans for years and quite happily live in the eaves.

Cats are one of their biggest threats and many young inexperienced birds are killed soon after leaving the nest.
