This large white waterbird with its long neck and orange bill  with black base has seen an increase in its numbers now that lead fishing weights have been banned.

Many were lost to lead poisoning.

​

​

​

They eat plants, snails, and insects.

They are 140 to 160cm in length

 They have a wingspan of 205 to 240cm 

They weigh in at between 10 to 12kg.
