Peacock
“Pavo Cristatus”
The male is referred to as a Peacock and the female a peahen but we seem to refer to them all as Peacocks.
The male has rather extravagant tail plumage displayed in courtship rituals. The iridescent blue and green plumage of the tail or train are marked with eyespots.
They nest on the ground but roost in trees.
They eat plants, seeds, flower petals,
insects, reptiles, and amphibians.
They are 100 to 225cm in length including the tail
They have a wingspan of 140 to 160cm
They weigh in at between 2.75 and 6kg
They live between 40 and 50 years.
