“Sterna Sandvicensis”
The Sandwich Tern is an amber listed bird.
It is mainly white with a long black bill with a yellow tip and short black legs.It has a short forked tail.
They eat whiting, sandals, sprats.
They will often be seen on nature reserves where electric fencing is installed to keep predators such as foxes out.
They will happily take all the eggs and several colonies have failed as a result.
They are 35 to 41cm in length
They have a wingspan of 95 to 105cm
They weigh in at between 210 and 260g.
