“Cygnus Cygnus”






This large white swan is slightly larger than the similar Bewick’s Swan. It has a long neck and black legs and has a black bill with a triangular patch of yellow.

They eat plants, grass, grain, and potatoes.

They measure 140 to 160cm in length 

They have a wingspan of 205 to 235cm 

They weigh in at 9 to 11kg.

23 pairs breed in the uk and 11,000 birds winter in the uk.
